Biography
Born in 1950 in Casablanca, Abdelkader Laaraj is a self-taught painter and sculptor. Adopted son of Assilah, the city of art par excellence, he has known and rubbed shoulders with the intellectual and artistic elite since the 1960s and 1970s. His joie de vivre does not leave anyone indifferent. Laaraj’s work is profound even if it offers a “jubilant world”, similar to that of childhood, seeking to play with the laws of physics and defying gravity.
